Family law encompasses dissolution of marriage (divorce), legal separation, maintenance (alimony), parental responsibility (custody and visitation), child support, paternity, and adoption. In Colorado, the courts and legislature emphasizes settlement rather than litigation. We provide our clients with family law services tailored to their individual needs and desires.
Divorce begins with the filing of a petition for dissolution of marriage. Upon the other spouse being served, signing a waiver, or both spouses filing the petition, an automatic injunction goes into effect.

Removing children from the state without permission of the other spouse or the court; |
Disturbing or harassing the other spouse; |
Hiding, destroying, transferring or disposing of property, unless it is in the ordinary course of business; |
Cancelling or modifying any insurance without your spouse's written consent or the Colorado divorce court's permission. |
Both parties must submit financial disclosures and exchange information regarding assets and debts. A case is resolved if the parties can reach a settlement and the court approves the agreement. Otherwise, the case goes to trial before a judge and the judge will then rule and grant the dissolution of marriage.
We help spouses and families with all family law issues.
